Ethnic minorities of Sapa, Vietnam

In the mountains of northeast Vietnam, near Sapa, travellers can find small villages populated by ethnic minorities like the H'mong people, the Dao people and the Zai community, amongst others. It's a wonderful region but it is also to a land where tourism is transforming some of these genuinely friendly Vietnamese hill tribes into very persuasive street vendors. Or should I say beggars? Welcome to tourism contradictions.
